What were you doing before joining Express?

I was an accounting assistant for a large construction company working on the Canadaline sky train. I found myself in a position where I felt over worked, underpaid and not at all appreciated, which also cut back on the time I was able to spend with my daughter. Being a single parent it was not easy finding people to help watch my daughter while I worked weekends. It started to make me feel trapped in a repetitive position that seemed to being going nowhere and left me with no aspirations for future growth. That’s when I decided I needed to find a career (and not just a job) that was not only rewarding but a little different from what I was used to. Express Computers was that place!

Why did you decide to join Express?

When I applied to work with Express I had discovered that they were a fast growing company. I was very excited when I went for my interview knowing that this was a place I could really build a new and exciting career for myself. Upon arriving at Express I noticed immediately how happy everyone seemed and I was greeted with open arms even before I had my interview. During my interview I learned more about how quickly I would advance here and how they had future aspirations for me that I had not even thought about yet. They were laying a path for my future all I had to do was take that first step. I decided to take that leap of faith and I have never been happier. The opportunity and flexibility that Express has given me allows me to spend the time I need with my daughter while still advancing in my career.

What are you working on?

Right now I am working with our management team on many different things but to me the most exciting at this time is the advancement in our Human Resources Department. We are working on creating a process to ensure that even as we continue to grow we keep all our employees, clients and anyone we will be adding to the team happy. We know that many companies lose this philosophy as they grow larger and add new members to the team. We would like to ensure that everyone who works within our organization always feels they are a part of the team and that they get the proper training and knowledge to advance within the company.

What has been most rewarding about your Express experience?

My greatest reward has been the opportunity to advance so quickly within the company. I have learned so many new things about so many different aspects from Accounting to Marketing to HR and almost everything in between. It is always rewarding to know you are appreciated and important to the people you work with/for. I see a future of growth and opportunity as I climb the ladders to a bright future with Express Computers.
