What were you doing before joining Express?

Before I joined Express I was doing technical support for 1,800 realtors at the Fraser Valley Real-Estate Board. To complement the technical support I was providing, I implemented knowledgebase and chat features for all realtors, enabling them to easily access support wherever they might be. It was enjoyable work. I enjoyed being able to help people, and made a lot of good friends there.

Why did you decide to join Express?

I had taken some time off from working for a while, and got a call from Express. One of their managers had taken me on for a practicum when I was first starting out, and now, years later, he’d recommended me for an opening they had. They saw a role for my qualifications both in leading people and in dealing with technical issues, and asked me to come on board. I was excited about the opportunity to manage such a great team of technicians.

What are you working on?

My main focus is on building trust relationships with our technicians, and a respect that goes both ways. I am always doing my best to make sure they have fair input into creating a fun, profitable environment for all of us. They’re the guys in the field who work hard and pay our salaries, so I try to lead by example and be the best manager I can be.

What has been most rewarding about your Express experience?

I am a people person, so the thing I like most about Express is the opportunity to work with great techs and great clients. I love being able to help people and really make a difference for them.
